I LOVE THE QUIET EARLY MORNINGS
How do you feel when you first wake up?
What do you do when you first wake up?
I like to say “thank you,” to my Divine Source of love, guidance and strength. I say to my Heavenly Father, “Here I am”.
If I skip this and immediately pick up my phone to see if there are any messages, it doesn’t feel the same. I miss out.
First thing in the morning our brains are rested and ready for inspiration. What a perfect time for prayer, scripture study and visualizing how we want our day to go.
The first hour of the day can determine the rest of our day.
What is your reason for getting out of bed in the morning? A family, a pet, a coworker who needs encouragement, a beautiful garden, a meaningful project? In what ways would you like to contribute to the world? What are you interested in? What are you good at?
What would you like your morning routine to look like? A meaningful morning routine can help you get focused, get in the right mood, energize you, order your brain, get the oxygen flowing, bring ideas to the surface and get you in tune with God.
Do you have a hard time waking up? Try a cold shower or a medical blue light for 20 minutes while you eat breakfast, to reset your circadian rhythm, do some stretches or bounce on a mini-trampoline.
Stop being a victim of tired. Come up with a plan to get better sleep. There are many wonderful resources with strategies to sleep better.
Be clear, decisive and creative as you design your own morning routine. Keep it simple. Tidy up how you use your time. Routines are like the comfort of a rocking chair. Of course we want to be flexible and spontaneous. But, generally, consistency is peaceful, stabilizing, comforting, growth-inducing and focus-orienting.
When my children were young, I would say, “It’s a great day for up”! Now, I say to my grandchildren, “It’s going to be a happy day! Every day is our lucky day”!
I hope you enjoy your morning, and find something lucky in your day!
