IS IT GOD WHO IS NOT LISTENING OR IS IT US NOT LISTENING? DO WE KNOW HOW TO LISTEN?

This week I have been asking God to help me figure something out. The answers didn’t seem to be coming. I said, “Heavenly Father, why don’t you speak louder?!” The thought came, “I can speak louder if you need louder. Would you like an earthquake or an illness to get your attention?” I smiled.

As I quieted my mind I remembered an idea that had come several times this week, briefly and quietly. I had dismissed it, thinking it wouldn’t work.

Have you noticed how easy it is to dismiss quietness, such as a gentle breeze, a flower, a soft-spoken person, a child’s question, or an unspoken plea for help?

God stands quietly at the door waiting for us to open it.

If we want to hear God, know Him better, we must create a little quiet or stillness in our lives. Even a 3 second pause to breathe and look heavenward.

I have started carrying around in my small purse a tiny paper journal to write down thoughts that come into my mind; thoughts that feel like they may have come from Heaven. I also write the tiny evidences that I see of God’s love.

We see what we are looking for. If we are looking for God we see Him everywhere. If we are looking for trouble we see that and feel unhappy.

I want to look for my Father in Heaven. I want to listen to Him instead of thinking He isn’t listening to me. I want to keep my radio turned on and tuned into His channel.

I want to be still and know God.
